Julie is an integrative nutritionist. Her passion for nutrition started over 20 years ago when she came across Adelle Davis’ book Let’s Get Well. Since then, her career has always had its eye on health. Every day starts with breakfast.
Julie completed her master of science degree in whole foods clinical nutrition from Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington, considered the nation's top holistic, natural medicine school by experts in the field. Upon finishing her degree, she completed a 9-month intensive nutrition internship with rotations at 10 different Seattle area health care centers, including the Joslin Diabetes Center, Providence Hospital-Everett, and a rotation in sports nutrition with The University of Washington athletes. She was also fortunate to spend time with a world-reknown private practice nutritionist in Burbank, California.
As a Functional Nutritionist, Julie integrates both alternative and conventional nutrition in her practice. She looks at nutrition at the level of our cells through various blood and other tests, and uses established science to guide her work. Integrating her training from Bastyr, practical experience and post-graduate training, Julie works with supplements, herbs and most importantly food as medicine to bring her clients’ health into balance in a way that is sustainable for the client and the earth.
Julie actively seeks continuing education, is a member of the American Dietetic Association, the Washington Dietetic Association, the Nutrition in Complementary Care practice group, and the Institute for Functional Medicine.
In addition to holding a master of science in nutrition and being a Registered Dietitian, Julie holds a BA in international commerce and an MBA in international management from The Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona. She has lived and worked in Switzerland and Brazil in addition to traveling all over the globe.
Julie is now happy to call Seattle home.
